About Emily Cavey:
I am a fine art photographer inspired by the art of storytelling, both fiction and nonfiction. I photograph in both black and white and color. Through the medium of photography I explore the human condition within the world: the relationships we have as human beings with each other and our environments. While my photography is shaped by documentary work, I allow for the flexibility to create a story as well. My work has three primary goals: to catch small moments unseen or forgotten, to capture relatable emotions and situations, and to explore collective and individual characteristics of being human. I study the human condition through photography because in an increasingly complicated world, depicting the human experience through a visual medium invokes empathy and a shared understanding of our humanity.
